v0.6.3PZ 42.20 - 42.21.x
WHAT IT CHANGES

A save system built around the world, not just the character.

01

Seamless Save

Save and overwrite normally stay inside gameplay using the native world save plus verified snapshot handling.

02

Unlimited snapshots

No fixed slot count. Search, sort, rename, overwrite and delete as the library grows.

03

Vanilla integration

Managed saves remain visible in the normal Main Menu Load screen and keep the existing More workflow.

04

Mod-aware loading

Before loading, the system can flag missing, disabled, new or changed mods and stronger map-mod differences.

05

Preview capture

Each manual snapshot carries a gameplay thumbnail and timestamp data for fast visual identification.

06

Recovery first

Overwrite and delete flows use staged copies, verification and recoverable data instead of blind replacement.

HOW THE SNAPSHOT WORKS

Fast when it can be fast. Defensive when it needs to be.

01

1 · Native save

Project Zomboid writes its normal world state while the game is paused.

02

2 · Verified snapshot

The companion stages the world, preserves the player handoff and verifies copied data before publishing the snapshot.

03

3 · Immutable rollback target

The selected snapshot stays separate from the working world so ordinary play does not silently mutate the rollback point.

04

4 · Engine-safe load

Loading uses Project Zomboid world teardown and initialization. The mod covers the handoff and validates the selected environment first.

MOD DIFFERENCE ENGINE

Know what changed before the world opens.

The snapshot records the mod environment at capture time and compares it against the current environment before load.

MissingA required mod is no longer installed or available.
NewA mod is enabled now but was absent when the snapshot was captured.
VersionThe declared version or content fingerprint changed since capture.
MapMap-sensitive differences receive a stronger warning before load.
